About the Triskelion Symbol
The triskelion (from the Greek ‘three-legged’) is one of the oldest symbols known to mankind. It is the symbol of the Isle of Man. 'Mylecraine' is derived from one of the oldest Manx names.
The Manx people believe that the triskelion came from Scandinavia with the Vikings. According to the Norse mythology, the triskelion was a symbol of the movement of the sun through the heavens. The triskelion appears on the Manx coat of arms along with the motto:
"Wherever you throw it, it will stand."
